ROBERT BURNS MEMORIAL

·       This monument was erected on October 1, 1930 in Dorchester Square in Downtown Montréal and was sculpted by Scottish artist G.A. Lawson.  It memorializes Robert Burns, who was one of the finest and most renowned Scottish poets.  He embodies a romantic Anglophone idealization of the community during the high Victorian era. Not only does the memorial honour Burns's ingenuity but it also commemorates the impacts of the Anglophone Scottish community on Montréal’s development.
